Please Note: Due to commander Fior’s ridiculous notions of “being concise”, and “not prattling on in those damn couplets”, the following is an abridged summary. Most spiders in the wood can be tamed by the Fela, and are the source of the silk that they trade.ĥ) Avoid burning the Felar wood excessively, or destroying small Fela communities (often found in caves). The Fela speak a version of the common tongue that can be hard to understand.ģ) Avoid Webtown (in hex 04.15) at all costs.Ĥ) Avoid killing spiders in the Felar wood if at all possible. Their military must be strengthened if they are to be helpful in securing our southern flank.ġ) Use the following phrase to indicate that you are friendly: (phrase reported here)Ģ) Speak slowly. To compensate for this, major settlements like Stone and Webtown are mobile (to some degree). Their intimate knowledge of the local giant spiders gives them the potential to be formidable allies, but as they are timid creatures who tend to hide when opposing tribes come in force, they lack significant amounts of treasure. They should be cultivated and preserved as eventual partners in the new civilization we are building here. The Fela are a treasure, allies on a hostile continent.

The woods are also reported to contain many spiders, some wolves, and plentiful game. These tribes are valid targets for extermination, and their treasures should be restored to civilization as soon as possible.

  • The Fela reported that few of their kind live east of here (in 05.14), because they are hunted there by two types of Green human-sized humanoids.
  • The party did not go there to confirm, so as to avoid needing to kill any in self-defense - the creatures are precious to the Fela.
  • According to the Fela, wild giant spiders live in the northwestern quadrant of the hex.
  • We got a good enough view of the surrounding hexes to identify their predominant terrain types: 05.15 is deep forest, and 04.16 is grassland.
  • This rug appeared to have been crawling up from the south.
  • The party encountered and killed an animated rug in a forest in the southwest quadrant of the hex.
  • Any expeditions venturing to 05.15 should bring appropriate cold weather gear and/or protective magics. In the southeastern corner of the hex, there was a very sharp transition to a cold weather region (across less than 10 minutes of walking). This suggests that the Black Tower is the better exploration site. The pillar seems to be the focal point of the abjuration guarding the White Tower, as a firebolt that Leshanna threw at it was reflected and hit her. The White Tower is similar to the Black Tower (abjuration + divination), but it has a small pillar standing in front of it where the Black Tower has a flattened area. This is a secure (or close to secure) place to spend the night and/or trade with the inhabitants of Webtown. They Fela have set up a camp on the edge of 04.15’s boundary with 05.14. AVOID Webtown’s vicinity at all costs, as it would result in a DEADLY fight with ALLIES. The Fela stated that to attempt to enter the vicinity of Webtown is death. The Fela keep a close watch of the surroundings, possibly through magical means: despite the party proceeding stealthily, we were waylaid by a group of over a dozen armed Fela riding spiders larger than horses before we ever saw Webtown.

Webtown is the primary Fela settlement, and is heavily guarded.

  • The party fought and killed a manticore in the area.
  • The party befriended the Fela, learning the phrase for “we are friends”, as well as teaching the Fela to wave their arms over their head and say “NO FIGHT” to avoid misunderstandings with future groups of adventurers.
  • The Fela are told by their ancestors to sacrifice silk to it, or it will hurt the ones in Stone occasionally. On the cliff overlooking Stone is the Rock, which magically radiates evocation and divination and is believed to be the focal point of the magics of the Black and White Towers. Stone is a safe place to spend the night. Stone is a village of around 3 dozen Fela in a few fortified houses in the ruins of a much larger settlement + palisade. The divination magic is tied to somewhere more than a mile to the south, almost certainly the Rock outside of Stone. Located near the centre of the northern border of the hex, this tower has abjuration and divination magic associated with it.
